September Board & Planning Commission Updates

These are just the highlights from my perspective. Everyone is always welcome to join the Board and Planning Commission Meetings. See the schedule on our Cannon Township website.

September 9 Meeting Highlights:

  • Eagle Scout Project

    • Riley Tang was presented with a plaque for his hard work on his Eagle Scout Project. This was really fun to see this project completed, because Riley announced his project at my first Board Meeting as an Appointed Official on March 25.

  • E-Bikes Allowed on Cannon Township Trail

    • Ordinance Amendment to Allow Class 1 Ebikes & Class 2 Ebikes with a DNR Issued Permit on the Cannon Trail.

  • Agenda and Minutes:

    • The agenda from the Board Meeting is available here.

    • Minutes were approved on Monday, September 23 and can be found in that agenda.

September 23 Meeting Highlights:

  • We discussed and decided on a vendor for the Pinehurst Lift Station work.

    • Prine and Newhoff did the bid tabulation and we went with K&R at their suggestion and they also were the low bidder.

  • Agenda and Minutes:

    • The agenda from the Board Meeting is available here.

    • Minutes will be approved on Monday, October 14 and can be found in that agenda.

September Planning Commission Meeting Highlights:

  • Site Plan Review: Request for Drive-thru - Chris Kaman

    • Approval was unanimous except for Ben Masterson, who voted no.

    • Result: Biggby Coffee with a drive-thru will be opening next to Ric’s.

  • Planning Commission Dynamics

    • I really love the Planning Commission, because everyone has a really unique background and perspective. I think we’re a great representation of all the different viewpoints in the Township. And everyone has a lot of respect for each other even when we disagree.

  • Next Planning Commission Meeting

    • No meeting is scheduled for October; minutes will be available after the November meeting.

After tonight's meeting, there are only three Board meetings and two Planning Commission meetings remaining for 2024.
