Cannon Township Launches Summer Lingo Bingo to Encourage Youth Outdoor Exploration
Cannon Township, MI — The Invasive Species/Wetlands Committee, Parks and Recreation Committee, and Fire Department of Cannon Township have joined forces to create an exciting new activity for local youth this summer. The initiative, dubbed "Youth, Summer Lingo, Bingo," aims to encourage children to explore the beautiful parks and trails that Cannon Township has to offer.
Families can download the Summer Lingo Bingo cards from the township's website. Additionally, copies of the bingo cards will be included in the summer tax bills, ensuring that every household has easy access to participate.
How It Works
The Summer Lingo Bingo cards feature a variety of fun and educational activities designed to get kids outside and engaged with nature. Participants are encouraged to explore different parks and trails in the township, completing tasks such as identifying local wildlife, learning about native plants, and practicing environmentally friendly habits.
Once children complete their bingo cards, they can redeem them at the Cannon Township Fire Department Station #2, on Belding Road, for a voucher for a free soft serve ice cream cone at Cowlicks and a free sticker. This tasty reward adds an extra layer of excitement and motivation for kids to get involved and explore their surroundings.
Promoting Outdoor Activity and Environmental Awareness
The collaboration between the Invasive Species/Wetlands Committee, Parks and Recreation Committee, and Fire Department highlights Cannon Township's commitment to promoting outdoor activity and environmental awareness among its younger residents. By participating in Summer Lingo Bingo, children will not only have fun but also gain a greater appreciation for the natural beauty and ecological diversity of their community, fostering a sense of pride in being a resident of Cannon Township.
"We're thrilled to launch this initiative," said Cy Balk, Cannon Township Trustee and Chair of the Invasive Species/Wetlands Committee. "It's a fantastic way to get kids outside, enjoying the fresh air and learning about the environment. Plus, who doesn't love a free ice cream cone?"
Community Engagement and Support
The Summer Lingo Bingo initiative is part of a broader effort by Cannon Township to engage the community and encourage residents to make the most of the local parks and recreational facilities. The program has received enthusiastic support from local businesses and community members, who see it as a valuable opportunity to promote outdoor activities and environmental stewardship.
"We believe this program will be a hit with families," added Todd Olson, Chair of the Parks and Recreation Committee. "It's a great way to combine fun, education, and community spirit. We're looking forward to seeing lots of kids out and about, exploring our wonderful parks and trails."
