Cannon Township Pancake Breakfast: Serving Up Fun for a Great Cause!

Here’s my recap from the 2023 Pancake Breakfast, as featured in the Squire. It’s hard to believe it's been a full year since we introduced the pickleball courts! This weekend marks another Pancake Breakfast. Time flies indeed! My son has a football game at 9 a.m., but I’ll be at the breakfast from 8-8:45 a.m. this Saturday. I hope to see you there! Will you join me?

Cannon Township - It was a morning of community spirit and delicious pancakes as Cannon Township came together for the annual Cannon Township Fire Department Pancake Breakfast. The event, held on Saturday, October 7th, was not only a tasty treat but also a fundraiser for a meaningful cause – the Great Lakes Burn Camp.

Hundreds of residents and pancake enthusiasts gathered at the event between 8:00 am and 10:00 am to enjoy a hearty breakfast. The pancakes were fluffier than ever, and the camaraderie in the air was palpable. The breakfast was made even more special by the fact that all the proceeds from the event would be donated to the Great Lakes Burn Camp.

But the excitement didn't stop at breakfast. The day held a special surprise in store – the ribbon cutting ceremony for the brand-new pickleball courts at Cannon Township. The event took place at 10:30 am, and it marked a significant milestone for our community.

To celebrate the occasion and contribute to the charitable cause, the organizers invited local enthusiasts to make a difference while having a ball – literally. The initiative involved seeking foursomes willing to donate $200 or more for the honor of enjoying the inaugural play on the freshly minted pickleball courts.

Since its inception in 1995, the Great Lakes Burn Camp has been dedicated to providing burn-injured children with a unique and healing experience. Their camp not only fosters physical healing but also promotes self-esteem, confidence, and overall well-being for young burn survivors. Their commitment to creating a safe and accepting environment for all campers is at the heart of their mission, ensuring that every child can grow and bond with fellow burn survivors.

The Cannon Township Pancake Breakfast, coupled with the exciting pickleball debut, showcased the strength of our community and its unwavering support for those in need. It was a morning filled with laughter, sportsmanship, and the knowledge that together, we can make a difference in the lives of young burn survivors.
