August Board & PC Updates

August 12 Board Meeting Highlights:

  • Fire Chief Promotions:

    • Our Fire Chief promoted Captain Mike Herrington and Captain Brian Morris to Deputy Chiefs.

    • It was a special moment with their families present.

  • Public Comment:

    • Two Residents affected by PFAS in their wells shared their concerns.

    • EGLE is leading the efforts to mitigate the PFAS water crisis.

    • Updates on the situation are shared on the Township website.

  • Agenda and Minutes:

    • The agenda from the Board Meeting is available here.

    • Minutes will be approved on Monday and can be read in the following agenda.

August Planning Commission Meeting Highlights:

  • Rezoning Request/Sewer System Discussion:

    • Discussion focused on the clarity of our sewer system’s capacity.

    • Kevin from Prein & Newhof confirmed that we currently have the capacity.

    • The study we’re using is from 2019, and there’s a question of whether a new study is needed.

    • I’ll be presenting this information to the Board on 8/26 in conjunction with the rezoning request at 7805 Young Ave NE.
